The unprecedented global health crisis triggered by COVID-19 affected travel markets and consumer behavior worldwide. Across Europe, travel segments contracted sharply in 2020, in stark contrast with the expansive growth experienced in previous years. Still, Europeans remain eager to travel and many have begun to do so again, especially as infection rates drop, travel restrictions are lifted, and certain guidelines and protocols are put in place.
The Europe Consumer Travel Report 2021 series provides a snapshot of Europeans’ behavior and sentiment regarding travel amid the height of the pandemic, into 2021 and beyond.
