Travel industry research authority Phocuswright has announced the award winners of the November 12, 2020 Phocuswright Innovation Platform programs, Summit and Launch. The programs, being held virtually this year during The Phocuswright Conference Online, provide the premier stages for innovators across the globe to demonstrate new ideas that are set to change the travel industry.
Ten innovators, selected from PhocusWire's Hot 25 Startups for 2021, presented at Summit, the pitch competition for startups and scaleups. Four innovators presented at Launch, the platform for established companies to introduce new products. The winners represent the best of this elite group.
Trueface, which uses computer vision to help hospitality companies recognize VIPs, bolster security and perform temperature scans, claimed both the Most Innovative Startup of the Year Award and the Summit: People's Choice Award.
Cloudbeds, which offers a comprehensive hospitality management platform including a PMS, channel manager, booking engine, revenue management tools, payment solutions and a marketplace of third-party apps, took home the Launch: People's Choice Award.
"In these extraordinarily challenging of times, we were genuinely inspired by the determination and creativity shown by this year's group of Summit and Launch innovators." said Phocuswright's manager, research and innovation, Mike Coletta. "We enjoyed working with PhocusWire to curate the annual Hot 25 Startups list as we always do, and to feature on the Summit stage the startups that we felt had the most potential to help airlines, hotels and travelers themselves navigate the terrible effects of the pandemic and bounce back strong."
514 innovators have now taken the stages at Phocuswright's innovation events since the first Travel Innovation Summit in 2008. This esteemed group of Phocuswright Innovation alumni has brought countless innovations to the market. 350 of them have raised funding, adding up to over $4.2B collectively, and 88 have been acquired.
