In the winding path to recovery, travel companies should be aware of two important factors for European travelers: flexibility and control. When it comes to planning trips, people are concerned about protecting their health and their pockets. 69-79% of travelers only want to book with providers who offer flexible cancellations or changes.

When booking accommodations, travelers have turned to private accommodations and rentals. Full home or apartment rentals were far more likely to increase in attraction for travelers than a room or space in a shared or private home, where they can lose control over cleanliness or privacy. Large hotels are considered to be the riskiest of all, with a third of travelers claiming they have slid in appeal.
