We've all heard the idea that our bulky wallets will one day be replaced by digital wallets – wallets that will live on our mobile devices, store our identification and payment information, and enable us to pay for goods and services by waving our smartphones across a reader. Tech news stories would have us believe that such a dramatic change is imminent, but the truth is that what's available today – especially in the travel industry – falls far short of this high-tech vision.This article explores the current state of mobile wallets and payments and provides insight into how mobile wallets are improving – and will improve – the travel experience.
