Aila Bereznak, Client Services and Project Coordinator
After working with the Phocuswright team as a contractor, Ms. Bereznak joined the company full time in 2017. Aila's client services dexterity keeps Phocuswright's research subscribers moving in the right direction. She also works with the project management team to ensure that schedules are on track and to liaise between clients and internal team members. Aila holds a B.S. in natural resource recreation and tourism and an M.S. in tourism management, both from Colorado State University. Originally from the mountains of Colorado, she currently lives in Steamboat Springs.
Vice President, Business Development
Mr. Bosselaar is responsible for the expansion of Phocuswright's industry standard syndicated and custom research business. In addition, Cees specializes in destination marketing and helping DMOs worldwide formulate and hone successful strategies. Cees joined Phocuswright in 2007 and is a 25-year veteran in the travel industry. He has wide-ranging, global experience in the air, hotel, car, cruise, and DMO segments. Prior to joining Phocuswright, Cees served as vice president, marketing and sales in the international division of StarCite (now part of Lanyon). Other previous positions were vice president, business development at Uniworld (Luxury River Cruises) in Los Angeles and director, North America for the Netherlands Board of Tourism and Conventions in New York. He holds a B.S. degree in marketing from the Hogeschool van Arnhem en Nijmegen (The Netherlands) and an M.B.A. degree in international management from the Golden Gate University, San Francisco.
Mark has been involved in several projects, such as co-authoring the European Traveler Technology Survey report; and performing data analysis for Phocuswright's Search, Shop, Buy and European traveler loyalty research. Mark continues to develop and execute surveys and interviews, analyze findings, and much more. His prior experience and course selections have created a foundation of understanding data and research methods. Mark is finishing a M.S. degree in applied social research from the City University of New York: Hunter College where his research focuses on consumer behavior and the effect of social identities and the consumer decision process. He is a graduate of City University of New York: Brooklyn College with a B.A. degree in sociology and English.
Vice President, Marketing
Walter is responsible for defining and implementing Phocuswright’s marketing strategy, PR, communications for the global brand’s event and research portfolio.
Prior to Phocuswright, he was engaged in several startups and established companies in the U.S. and Europe. As founder and CEO of com.on, he pioneered one-to-one marketing in the Swiss and international markets, supporting several leading travel companies in their online presence, e-commerce launches and CRM implementation. Walter sold com.on to Interhome AG and became the CMO of the global leader for professionally managed vacation rentals. Walter moved to New York City in 2011 and is based at the Manhattan office.
Senior Vice President, Finance and System Operations
Ms. Buyer is responsible for all finance and administration functions within Phocuswright and its sister brand, Inntopia. She has over twenty-five years' experience in operations and accounting management. Prior to joining Phocuswright, Trish oversaw retail operations for the Ethan Allen organization. She graduated from the College of William and Mary with a B.S. in mathematics and holds an M.B.A. in accounting. Trish resides in Sherman.
Director, Syndicated Products
Rebecca is responsible for managing Phocuswright's syndicated research line of business from a product and service perspective. She focuses on launching and enhancing products to increase Phocuswright's syndicated research sales as well as ensuring that Phocuswright research clients receive a high level of service. She has almost 20 years' experience in account management and strategic marketing. Prior to Phocuswright, Rebecca worked on both the corporate and digital agency sides in the travel industry. She's worked for Northstar Travel Group's Marketing Solutions, Hyatt, Starwood, TIG Global (now Micros), razorfish and Travelocity, to name a few. She has a B.A. in psychology and English from University of Colorado at Boulder and an M.B.A. with an emphasis in marketing and corporate strategy from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. She resides in Denver, CO.
Ms. Campetti joined Phocuswright in 2004 as a database coordinator and office manager. In her current role, Kimberly has many responsibilities, including managing the development of the conference programs and coordinating the speakers at each event. Kimberly graduated with a B.A. in marketing and received her M.B.A. from Western Connecticut State University. When she's not working, Kimberly enjoys traveling. She currently lives in New York City.
Senior Manager, Marketing
Mrs. Carey keeps Phocuswright's communications with the outside world rolling. Pam's many responsibilities include website upkeep, liaising with the creative agency and advertising vendors, managing the development of marketing materials and messages, distributing information, coordinating communications so that clients keep abreast of new reports and happenings at Phocuswright and more. She does a great job in keeping the multiple tasks for each project organized and on time to better serve all client needs. Pam enjoys the opportunities to improve her skills - and learn many new ones - at Phocuswright.
Senior Manager, Research Production and Office Operations
Ms. Cepeda oversees the editing, production, and scheduling process for publications and maintains analyst relations. She has a B.A. in English and communications from Seton Hall University in New Jersey and holds an M.S. in tourism and travel management from New York University. Elizabeth lives in the New York City metro area.
Manager, Research and Innovation
Mr. Coletta has served in a variety of high-level roles over 15 years in the travel industry at startups, corporations and digital agencies. He authored projects such as Phocuswright Conference: 2016 Innovation Platform Roundup and Phocuswright Conference 2015: Battleground and Travel Innovation Summit Roundup before joining Phocuswright full time.
He previously worked primarily in the startup world as an entrepreneur, investor, program manager and consultant. He also spent significant time as an analyst, group organizer, project manager and UX designer, building a spectrum of expertise and a wide network of contacts.
Mike volunteers as the organizer of the Travel 2.0 Meetup group and as a global coordinator with Travel+SocialGood. He was a member of Phocuswright's 2013 "Young Leaders Under 35" executive development program.
Mike graduated from the Isenberg School of Management at UMass Amherst with a B.B.A. in finance and minor in psychology, and spent a semester abroad in The Netherlands studying international business. His main hobby is keeping his finger on the pulse of what's next in travel. He has traveled to close to 40 countries.
Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing
Mr. Comeau joined the Phocuswright team in November, 2007. Pete is responsible for overall strategic leadership for Phocuswright's full suite of products and services. He oversees of all aspects of Phocuswright's commercial activities including product, sales and service, and marketing. He also plays a key role in product development and business development strategy for Phocuswright research and events globally. Mr. Comeau has worked in the travel and hospitality industry for over 20 years, most recently as a relationship manager at Orbitz Worldwide in Chicago, where he assisted in growing and managing accounts for the white label division. Prior to Orbitz, Pete was the sales manager at Moguls Mountain Travel, a ski tour wholesaler in Boulder, CO. He helped design, implement and maintain four reservation systems during his tenure and managed and mentored a team of successful sales agents. Based in the Denver, Colorado area, Pete holds an M.B.A. from Daniels College of Business and graduated magna cum laude from Bowdoin College with a degree in government and economics.
Ms. Cortese joined Phocuswright in 2005 after tagging along as a helping hand at the 2004 conference in Hollywood. Debbie coordinates every aspect of each event sponsorship and exhibition - from concept to deliverables. Debbie works tirelessly to ensure that clients' needs are met and that their experience as a Phocuswright sponsor/exhibitor is a positive and seamless one. Prior to her current position she was a certified marketing representative for A Second Opinion in New Jersey.
Jim Craven, Director, Business Development, PhocusWire
James Craven is the consummate travel industry veteran. Jim began his career in Boston as a charter tour operator with International Weekends Inc. He later became a travel agent/tour wholesaler with Great American Travel which led to seven years with Eastern Airlines in reservations, sales and, finally, advertising management at the Miami headquarters.
Jim later spent 15 years in sales management for Travel Weekly. During his tenure with the company, Jim opened the South and Central American markets as advertising director and became the associate publisher of The Official Cruise Guide.
Perhaps Jim's greatest asset is his ability to anticipate market trends. He conceived, developed and launched Travel Weekly's daily e‐newsletter in the mid‐1990's, putting the publication on the leading edge of electronic innovation. He continued to manage Travel Weekly's online presence until 2001.
Jim formed the Craven Travel Group (CTG) in 2001, serving as an expert consultant and adjunct executive for such travel industry giants as National Geographic Traveler, Travel Agent Magazine, Miles Media, the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, and USAI TV Travel Network. Jim also assisted in the sale of TBEX from founder to current owner BlogWorld, staying on as sales director.
Through CTG, Jim joined tnooz in 2010 as sales director ‐ Americas, and help grow tnooz from a startup into an ongoing concern for seven years.
Jim has traveled through 70+ countries and 49 U.S. states.
Ms. Dongre joined Phocuswright's Asia Pacific team in 2014. Coney contributes to various research projects including Asia Pacific Online Travel Overview and helps the team in data collation and management. Prior to joining Phocuswright, Coney worked as an IT consultant with Infosys Limited, where she used her analytical skills to understand the requirements for projects and lay a foundation for project development. Coney is an engineering graduate from Bhopal University and holds an M.B.A. (marketing) from Symbiosis University. Apart from work, Coney enjoys gardening and bird-watching.
Product Marketing Manager
Ms. Gonzalez joined the Phocuswright team in March of 2015. As product marketer, she is responsible for improving existing product lines and creating new products for the brand. Before dedicating her time to Phocuswright, Monze worked in various marketing capacities at Northstar Travel Media for four years. She received her Bachelor of Arts degrees in communications and ethnic studies from California State University, Fullerton. Monze is a firm believer that bad coffee is better than no coffee and enjoys spending her free time baking, eating ice cream and supporting Arsenal FC.
Ms. Grenesko joined the Phocuswright team full-time in 2014. As sponsorship sales manager, she is responsible for opening dialogues with new clients and developing business opportunities for Phocuswright’s global events. Prior to Phocuswright, Alycia worked for The Walt Disney Company in Anaheim, California; Paris, France; and Frankfurt, Germany. In addition, she managed events and sponsorship sales for Gartner Inc. in Latin America. Alycia is a graduate of California State University, Fullerton with a Bachelor's degree in international business and a minor in German. Alycia's love of travel has taken her around the world where she has visited all seven continents. She originally hails from Orange County, California, but currently resides in Connecticut.
Anthony Guaragno, Staff Accountant
Mr. Guaragno is responsible for Phocuswright's daily accounting activity, processing, and analysis of functions such as invoicing, event registrations, currency exchange tracking, and more. To keep things running smoothly, Anthony relies on his background as an accountant at a media company in Brooklyn and his retail management experience. He holds a B.S. in accounting with a minor in finance from College of Staten Island. Anthony resides in Staten Island, New York, and when his local teams (Yankees, Giants, Rangers) aren't playing, he can be found spending time with his family.
Senior Manager, Phocuswright and Travel Weekly Events
Ms. Harris plays a central role in executing an unparalleled event for Phocuswright customers. Registration system coordination, customer interface, Web page development, press requests, on-site coordination and post event duties are just snapshots of Lori's responsibilities. She assists clients from the beginning of the relationship until the conclusion of the event. No stranger to the travel industry, Lori previously held a management role at Continental Airlines. She lives in Sherman, CT with her three sons.
Senior Manager, Business Technology
Gillian manages Business Technology for the Phocuswright team, contributes to Phocuswright’s Innovation Edition and participates in the selection of innovators for conferences. She takes the lead in building data-driven and interactive products for Phocuswright's proprietary global database. She manages data aggregation, integrations with the content management system and the customer relationship management solution.
Gillian's career in the travel industry began more than 20 years ago, and worked exclusively for travel technology companies since 1998. Prior to joining Phocuswright in 2016, she worked for Amadeus IT Group, where she held the position of investment manager for Amadeus Ventures, a travel venture fund that makes minority stake investments in travel technology startups. Gillian also worked as a marketing research analyst for the Amadeus central organization for nearly 8 years. She managed primary research projects and the evaluation and selection of research subscriptions for Amadeus globally.
Prior to working at Amadeus IT Group, she worked for Amadeus North America Inc., where she managed strategic accounts for Amadeus e-Travel Management, a corporate online booking tool. Gillian’s software product management experience extends back to Oracle Corporation and e-Travel, Inc. Gillian began her career in travel technology in the late nineties working for an Internet startup, which was acquired by Oracle Corporation. She started out her career in travel working as a travel agent for leisure travel agencies including the American Automobile Association.
Gillian is currently pursuing an evening M.B.A. in business intelligence / analytics from Nova Southeastern University. She holds a B.S. in business administration from Northeastern University graduating magna cum laude with dual majors in management and management information systems.
Mrs. Ingraffia’s responsibilities run the gamut of all things related to the attendee experience for Phocuswright’s face-to-face events. From the registration and application systems, and pre-event customer service to onsite support, Pat is an integral part of the events team. She previously worked with the Phocuswright team as a temporary employee with the 2014 and 2015 Phocuswright Conference events and became a permanent member in 2016. Before joining Phocuswright, Pat worked for Bayer Pharmaceuticals in the patient assistant program which provides free medications to uninsured patients. She resides in Pompton Lakes, NJ with her husband and two sons.
Manager, Data and Analytics
Mr. Jain serves on Phocuswright's Asia Pacific team. His research and analytics skills make him an essential part of many research projects including Phocuswright's Emerging Online Travel Marketplace in China, Phocuswright's Social Media in Travel, Phocuswright's Indian Online Travel Overview and more. Deepak is an engineering graduate from Bhopal University and also holds post graduate diploma in advanced computing.
Director, Business Development, Asia Pacific
Virendra is responsible for sales of Phocuswright's products and services in Asia Pacific. Prior to joining Phocuswright, Virendra served as the head, marketing and press relations for leading training institutes in India. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Holkar Science College (India) and an M.B.A. with dual specialization in marketing (major) and finance (minor) from DAVV University (Indore).
Alice joined the Phocuswright team in June 2016. With a B.S. in finance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, she started her career in banking but chose to transition to an industry she was passionate about, earning a M.S. in travel and tourism management at NYU. She's since held a series of positions with various travel organizations, including HeBS Digital, Singapore Tourism Board and Travelzoo, bringing extensive hands-on experience in digital marketing and travel to inform Phocuswright's global research. As a yoga enthusiast with a major case of wanderlust, she also serves as a part-time yoga teacher and loves to travel to any destination off the beaten path.
Director, Editorial and Research
Mr. Juman is a publishing and online content management specialist with broad experience in business writing and editing, editorial strategy and product development. In addition to having held editorial positions with Simon & Schuster and several business publishers, David was managing editor of the Official Tour Directory and has provided editorial consulting services to numerous companies in the U.S., the U.K., India and elsewhere. He writes and edits a variety of Phocuswright materials, including articles, reports, white papers, presentations, press releases and other corporate communications. David has a Bachelor's degree in psychology from Cornell University, and is currently based in New York City.
Director, Sales, EMEA and European Market Specialist
Based in London, Ms. Kaci heads research sales for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, spreading knowledge of the company's products and services, and creating partnerships. Florence speaks at a variety of industry events across Europe and Eastern Europe on travel distribution trends that are changing the way consumers search, shop, buy and share travel. Prior to joining Phocuswright, a position with REZSolutions - soon to become Pegasus Solutions - brought Florence from France to London. She held various hotel and distribution roles within Pegasus dealing with implementation, in-service delivery, sales, account management, increasing the Internet distribution channels portfolio and transaction volume, and connecting hotel groups in Europe with OTAs to improve partnerships. Most recently, Florence was director, sales and account management (supply and demand) for the EMEA region with Pegasus. Florence's previous experience includes Starwood in Paris, a hotel group in Mauritius and the French Tourism government office in New York City. She holds an M.B.A. in tourism (management) from the ESCAET.
Research Analyst, Asia Pacific
Mr. Kapoor joined the Phocuswright research team in February 2010 to fulfill his desire to track online travel trends firsthand. Prior to joining Phocuswright, Chetan reported on various aspects of the industry for nearly three years, including attending a number of local and international trade shows, conferences and interviewing key people of the trade, and was a journalist for Express TravelWorld, a leading Indian travel trade publication. A Bachelor of Mass Media graduate from the University of Mumbai (Bombay), Chetan enjoys jogging and has participated in the Mumbai Half Marathon since 2008. His other interests include meeting new people, discovering new cultures and cuisines, photography, reading up on social media and new technologies, treks and, of course, traveling.
Events Sales Manager
Ms. Kennard joined the Phocuswright team to build the field of innovators for events held in the U.S. and Europe. Kristin is also a valuable asset to the event sponsorship team assisting with growing sales. She is also head of sales for Northstar Travel Media's Travel Weekly Marketplace and TravelAge West Classifieds. Previously, Kristin was client service associate at Morgan Stanley. She graduated from NJCU with a Bachelor's degree in marketing and studied vocal performance at Boston Conservatory.
Manager, Digital Marketing and Communications
Mr. Ko focuses on customer engagement through digital and brand marketing for both Phocuswright Research and Events. He creates and manages various creative web content, drives social media strategy and digital campaigns, manages press communication and other marketing and event initiatives. Eugene is also the talent behind video content and production. He has a B.S. in hospitality and tourism management from New York University, where he is an Adjunct Professor. He loves exploring the culinary options of New York City and supports Philadelphia sports teams.
Editorial Design Associate
Ms. Kusiak supports the research team with production of syndicated and custom research offerings as well as assisting the team to ensure that Phocuswright’s global presentations are innovative and dynamic. She has experience working as a graphic designer at Firestone Financial, an equipment finance company located in Needham, MA. She has also worked as an in-house designer for a retail boutique. She received a B.F.A. from Umass Amherst with a concentration in printmaking and has recently relocated to New York from Boston. She enjoys running and photography.
Director, Surveys and Analytics
With over a decade of experience in consumer and marketing research, Mr. Liu contributes his expertise to customer engagement, segmentation and decision process analysis for Phocuswright's research publications and custom client engagements. Before joining Phocuswright, Bing worked with Gallup Inc. in Southern China as director of consulting and research analytics, helping clients develop marketing strategies and consumer insight. Prior to that role, he was with Gallup in California as senior research analyst, designing and implementing consumer studies across different industries and geographies. Bing holds a M.S. degree in survey research and methodology from University of Nebraska.
Manager, Research Sales and Support
As manager, research sales and support, Mrs. Motley is responsible for growing Phocuswright's industry-standard research business and supporting sales of new product launches. Kirsten graduated from Colorado State University with an M.S. in tourism management in 2014. Her experience has been largely in sales, previously working as the sales account executive for iPoint Technologies, and then as the citizen outreach director for the Fund for the Public Interest. In addition to working with Phocuswright, Kirsten sits on a working board for the Northern Colorado Renewable Energy Society, responsible for business and community development. Her interests lie in both travel and tourism, especially in terms of the human and environmental correlation on the local and global levels.
Vice President, Events
Mrs. Plummer joined Phocuswright in 1999 as a part-time associate in the accounting department before joining the events team full time the following year. In her current position, she directs sales and operations for all Phocuswright events. In addition to managing event production, logistics and vendor relations, she oversees event sales. Prior to joining Phocuswright, she worked in the commercial construction and restoration industry while raising a family. Cathy graduated from Upsala College with a B.A. in finance and business management.
Senior Vice President, Research
Mr. Quinby is a travel industry veteran who enhances Phocuswright's research team with his keen insights, diligent analysis and industry relationships. He is a key contributor to The Global Edition, Special Projects and Custom Research, and oversees The Asia Pacific Edition. Douglas has been designing and leading Phocuswright research for many years, including Phocuswright's U.S. and Asia Pacific Online Travel Overview publications. He has led several seminal studies on social media and traveler reviews, travel agencies, the vacation rental markets in the U.S. and Europe, the local tours and activities market, global distribution systems and more. Douglas is a recognized expert on online travel and travel distribution and is frequently cited in leading media outlets including Bloomberg, CNN, The New York Times, USA Today, The Wall Street Journal and The Washington Post. He is also a sought-after speaker and moderator, and has presented Phocuswright research at numerous travel industry events around the world.
Prior to joining Phocuswright, Douglas led his own firm providing strategic research, communications and marketing services to travel technology companies. He has also served as director, marketing and communications for Atinera and as packaged travel and technology editor for Leisure Travel News. Douglas is a graduate of Oberlin College and Conservatory of Music.
Senior Director, Research
Ms. Rauch first encountered Phocuswright at a conference at Beijing, two years into her five working in China, and officially joined the team shortly after returning to the U.S. in 2012. She leads market sizing efforts for APAC and the U.S., in addition to overseeing custom projects on a wide range of topics. Maggie also contributes to conference programming, and presents Phocuswright Research at conferences from the U.S. to Hong Kong and Singapore. She speaks Mandarin and spends months each year re-immersing herself in the fast-changing Chinese market.
A graduate of the magazine program at Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism, Maggie's introduction to the travel business came over several years working as a travel trade editor in New York. Among her hobbies is coaching youth sports (basketball, swimming and water polo) both in Brooklyn and her second home in Southwest China.
Director, Project Management and Account Services
Ms. Reith joined Phocuswright in May 2010. As director, project management and account services, she keeps the research team's private engagements well organized, in addition to taking great care of many clients. Her previous positions include director, sales with On Location Tours, where she managed all group and wholesale accounts for the company; and senior account manager with John Wiley and Sons, where she sold and maintained the WileyPLUS homework management program. Cat completed her undergraduate degree in communications and her M.S. in tourism and travel management at NYU. After ten years in New York City, she decided it was time to make a big change and now resides in Colorado – closer to the ski slopes.
Senior Director, Research Operations
Mrs. Shuart joined Phocuswright in 1998 to assist in building the company's internal processes. As senior director, research operations, Diane maintains efficiency by ensuring clients' custom research needs are met from concept to deliverables. She coordinates and supports analysts' activities across all aspects of the research cycle. Living in New Jersey with her husband and two children, Diane is very involved in her community.
Senior Vice President, Research and Business Operations
Ms. Sileo launched the research division of Phocuswright Inc. in 1998. She pioneered online travel metrics adopted as the industry standard for segmentation, sizing, forecasting, analysis and consumer planning behavior. Lorraine is quoted frequently in consumer and trade media including The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal and has authored numerous publications including Phocuswright's U.S. Online Travel Overview. Lorraine was previously an adjunct professor at New York University's Graduate Center for Hospitality, Tourism and Sports Management. She has analyzed the business and consumer digital marketplace for various publications and media companies for over 20 years.
Mrs. Wright joined the Phocuswright research team in January 2016. She previously worked in the marketing and advertising departments for multiple trade publications, developing her research and analysis, database management, and digital media skills. Brandie brings a big passion for the travel industry with her. Recently, she and her husband embarked on a trip around the world where they visited 23 countries in Africa, Europe, Asia and North America. Upon returning from her world tour, she was determined to combine her marketing research background with her love of travel, which landed her at Phocuswright. Brandie holds a B.S. in marketing from Wright State University in Ohio and now resides in New York City. She enjoys traveling to new destinations, running and anything outdoors.
