An Overview of Itinerary Aggregators

Mobile itinerary aggregation apps put all the components of trip plans into the traveler’s hands. The objective of this article is to evaluate the innovation that has occurred in the itinerary aggregation space. Apps available via Google Play and Apple’s App Store include Amadeus CheckMyTrip, Sabre’s TripCase, SAP’s Concur TripIt, Travelport’s ViewTrip, Traxo, Umapped, WorldMate and many more. Until recently, a comprehensive view of the trip was only available to the traveler if the booking was made through an intermediary using a global distribution system (GDS). Now itinerary apps can harvest details from the traveler’s emails – including booking confirmations from travel management companies (TMCs), airlines, hotels, car rental companies and railways – to provide a complete view of the trip, irrespective of where and how the travel was booked.
