Airbnb has made staying in a home or apartment during travel mainstream, but with preparations underway for an IPO that could come as early as 2018, its aspirations go far beyond private accommodation. The company aims to become a "one-stop shop" for travel – and there is plenty of cash on hand to pursue this goal. However, building on the runaway success of private accommodation may be easier said than done.
