Event Sales Associate


We're seeking a passionate, organized, and self-motivated inside sales associate to drive booth and registration sales for our series of travel-industry conferences, the premier venues for thought leadership and innovation in the travel tech space.

Qualified candidates will have experience with sales in the event, travel, and/or tech industries. Members of our sales teams react nimbly, able to build value-based arguments to overcome objections and withstand naysayers. The primary job responsibilities will be to sell events sponsorship and exhibit space to technology providers, travel intermediaries and destination marketing organizations (DMO’s) and to support other members of the sales team with prospecting and operational assistance. There will be exposure to sales for research subscriptions, reports and digital media opportunities, with the long-term potential to grow into an integrated sales role.

Candidates from anywhere in the United States are welcome to apply. This role may be home-based or may be based in one of our offices throughout the country. Occasional travel to conferences is required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full sales life-cycle: prospecting, lead qualifying, solution selling, proposal development and account conversion
  • Broadly assist sales team to ensure sales process operates efficiently. This includes maintaining tools and support systems and keeping them updated and streamlined
  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans with input from leadership
  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans with input from leadership
  • Maintain an existing base of accounts and grow the sales pipeline
  • Will be provided a sales territory based on region and/or industry segment

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • A demonstrable track record of meeting and exceeding revenue targets in event sales or for a travel industry or technology company
  • Good negotiation and decision-making skills, strong quantitative and analytical skills are required
  • A team player, willing to take on one-off projects to improve efficiency of sales team and sales process
  • Must be highly organized and diligent in keeping records on client progress in Salesforce for global team visibility
  • Must be resourceful to find prospects on his/her own, qualify leads intelligently and be a closer
  • Experience selling digital media or information products and familiarity with Phocuswright’s offerings are a major plus
  • Technology savvy –SalesForce.com, Hunter, Clearbit, Owler and the Microsoft Office Suite; experience with prospecting tools is preferred
  • Strong business acumen and professionalism, excellent customer focus, attention to detail an outstanding communication skills in all forms
  • Decisive, resourceful and innovative, with demonstrated success at developing and implementing ideas
  • Must be independent and self-motivated and have ability to perform well under pressure and against aggressive deadlines in an entrepreneurial/start-up environment
  • Results-oriented focus; ability to convey a sense of urgency and continually press for closure
  • Build relationships and quickly develop value with senior executives in multi-national enterprises
  • Keen listener who extrapolates information to provide customers with relevant solutions

Related work Experience

  • 2 - 3 years experience in inside sales and sales support, including management of a budget and quota
  • Experience in travel industry is a plus

Formal Education or Equivalent

  • College degree is required
