Research Data Analyst

Phocuswright is recruiting a Data Analyst to join our exclusive group of travel industry thought leaders and grow our renowned global travel research and intelligence practice. Qualified candidates love data, have strong analytical skills, and can tell an engaging story from the insights they uncover. They have excellent communications skills and are comfortable analyzing and extracting meaningful conclusions from numbers. Travel, tourism, and hospitality experience is a big plus, but candidates should otherwise be eager to plug into the latest trends and technologies that are shaping our industry.

Key Responsibilities

The Data Analyst will work with varied datasets, analyzing and interpreting the data to identify trends and patterns, derive important insights, and create compelling visualizations and reports. They will act as a key resource for the Phocuswright analyst community.

Specifically, the Data Analyst will:
  • Collect data from existing sources, structure and transform it as required to make it ready for analysis and interpretation
  • Apply statistical techniques to analyze, identify and interpret trends in large, complex datasets
  • Create clear and compelling reports, dashboards, and other visualizations to showcase insights
  • Build tools to automate data collection, aggregation, analysis and output
  • Develop, improve, and maintain databases for Phocuswright’s primary data
  • Vet new sources of data, acquire and integrate them into Phocuswright’s research
  • Contribute to Phocuswright’s market sizing and forecasting process
  • Support related press activity and speaking engagements
  • Liaise with other departments to support the overall growth of the Phocuswright business
  • Must be a quick learner, able to take initiative and work with little supervision
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical ability and meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to interpret multiple sets of data and report on insights
  • Adept at presenting data by creating dashboards and other visuals
  • Expertise in Excel and Power BI, good knowledge of Word and PowerPoint
  • Minimum undergraduate degree in a statistical or quantitative field
  • Minimum 3 years of data analysis experience
  • Deep comfort with quantitative analysis
  • Familiarity with Tableau or similar
  • Keen eye for design
  • Experience in the travel industry or travel and tourism research
  • Public speaking and presentations of any form – large audiences, client presentations, webinars, live interviews, and panel
