Trip Davis is the president and CEO of TRX (NASDAQ: TRXI), a leading, independent provider of transaction processing and data integration services to the global travel industry. He joined TRX as CEO in December 1999, and he led the company through its successful IPO in September 2005.
TRX clients include more than 150 financial institutions, travel agencies (traditional and online), travel suppliers, and corporations, such as global leaders American Airlines, British Airways, American Express, Carlson Wagonlit, Citibank, Expedia, and MasterCard. The company is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, with operations and staff in North America, Europe, and Asia.
In August 2005, the National Business Travel Association (NBTA) named Davis its Allied Member of the Year. Business Travel News named Davis one of the 25 most influential executives in the travel industry. Three times Travel Agent Magazine has named him one of the 100 Rising Stars in the travel industry. Davis is the three-time chairman of The Masters Program, the premier executive forum for travel industry leaders.
Prior to TRX, Davis was the senior nice president and general manager of the Travel Industry Practice Group at iXL, a major strategic Internet services firm. Prior to iXL, he was the CEO and co-founder of Green Room Productions, a San Francisco-based leader in Web development and technology integration for the travel industry, which he sold to iXL in February 1998.
Prior to founding Green Room, Davis worked in new ventures for Virginia-based Landmark Communications, a private media company with holdings such as The Travel Channel and The Weather Channel. While at Landmark, he worked on strategies and investments in the travel sector, including The Travel Channel Online (www.travelchannel.com), an Internet travel service including destination information and electronic reservations.
Earlier in his career, Davis was an associate producer with ESPN and Jobson Sailing. With ESPN, he produced coverage of national and international sailing events, culminating with the America's Cup in San Diego.
Davis earned a BA from Dartmouth College and an MBA from the Darden School at the University of Virginia.
