Jim YoungD. Jim Young is an experienced marketing, strategy and commercial operations executive specializing in the hospitality and air transportation industries. Currently, vice president, marketing, sales and distribution for Frontier Airlines, Mr. Young is responsible for the company’s brand, advertising and reservation/distribution functions. Throughout his 25-year career, Mr. Young has held various senior and executive management positions in the telecommunications, consulting and travel industries. Prior to joining Frontier Airlines, he was executive vice president and chief commercial officer with Festival Vacations, and prior to that senior vice president, global distribution for the InterContinental Hotels Group. Prior to joining IHG in 2001, Mr. Young was managing director, distribution planning, for Continental Airlines. Previous positions held were with Canadian Airline International, and the COBA Group, a London-based strategy consultancy. Mr. Young began his career in the telecommunications industry in 1980 as an engineering apprentice for Alberta Government Telephones. A recognized industry leader, he was a founder of Orbitz and the Open Travel Alliance and also represented Continental Airlines on the Universal Air Travel Plan (UATP) board and many International Air Transport Association (IATA) and Air Transport Association (ATA) management committees. Over the last 2 years he has served as a Fellow with the Wharton School’s Operations Information Economics faculty and was the 2007 Executive in Residence at the Georgia Institute of Technology School of Management. In 1999, and again in 2004, Business Travel News and Travel Agent Magazine recognized Mr. Young as one of the most influential people in the industry.
