Charles J. Petruccelli

President, Global Travel Services, American Express Company

Charles PetruccelliCharles Petruccelli is president, global travel services at American Express. He is responsible for the company’s business travel and foreign exchange business world-wide. He also oversees the company’s international network of travel service office representatives. Mr Petruccelli joined American Express in 1976 and has held several senior international positions within the organisation. In 1996 Mr. Petruccelli was appointed to the position of president, corporate services international, where he had responsibility for the company’s corporate card, purchasing card, and corporate travel interests in Canada, Europe, Latin America and Caribbean, Japan and Asia Pacific. In July 1998 his role was further expanded as he assumed world-wide responsibility to grow the company’s foreign exchange business and was asked to co-ordinate the global airline strategy for the group, a strategic function to support the company’s various business units. In 2001 he was promoted to his current position, to lead the global business travel and foreign exchange businesses for the company on a worldwide basis with currently more than 26 Billions of sales volume and 17,000 employees. Mr Petruccelli serves also as non executive Chairman of American Express Carte France and American Express Voyages France. Mr Petruccelli is a graduate from Hautes Etudes Commerciales, Paris. He is also Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur and Chevalier de l’Ordre du Mérite, recognitions given to him by the French government for his support and leadership role in helping the development of the travel industry. Mr Petruccelli is also founder and Chairman of “Le Cercle”, the association of foreign multinational subsidiaries based in France. He is a member of the executive committee of the World Travel and Tourism Council, a forum for the business leaders of the global travel and tourism industry.
